Born to Monica (also a saint) a Christian and a Pagan father Patricius who converted to Christianity on
his deathbed. Leading a hedonistic life in his youth he choose to give it up in
the pursuit of God. Baptised by St Ambrose, one of the four original doctor of
the Church. His writings covered diverse fields including theology, philosophy
and sociology
