Name – Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz

Born – 2nd November 1651

Died – 17th April 1695 (aged 43)

Poet, dramatist, scholar, feminist and nun, Juana was self-taught, she advocated for women’s education. He writing met both admiration or criticism. Her notable works include The Dream (poetry), Pawns of a House and Love is More a Labyrinth (drama). She died at the age of 43, after catching the plague while treating her fellow nuns. The convent in Mexico City in which she lived the and where she wrote most of her work is today the University of the Cloister of Sor Juana.
