Died – 8th February 1947 (aged 78 years)

Veneration – Roman Catholic Church

Beatified – 17th May 1992

Canonised – 1st October 2000

Feast – 8th February

Patronage – Sudan

St Josephine Bakhita was kidnapped and sold into slavery and tortured at the age of seven or nine. She chose to become a nun when liberated.
